These are the ten new bag shapes you need to know
As the sun occasionally reminds us by peeping round the last few grey winter clouds, spring is almost here. With the new season comes a new array of bag shapes taking our wardrobes out of hibernation. From Mulberry’s diamond design, to Cult Gaia’s bee hive shape, here is a run down of our favourite new shapes for spring.
The Row, like the twin designers Mary-kate and Ashley Olsen, consistently exudes minimalist sophistication. This bag is no exception, continuing in the brands ethos with it’s sleek and stylish look, whilst remaining practical and aesthetically innovative. The new ‘egg’ shape is here to stay and The Row’s bag is a perfect addition to any wardrobe.
Red bag, £925, The Row.
This fashion week the most photographed bag brand was definitely Boyy. Having taken over our instagram feeds, the brand continues to take over our wardrobes with it’s instantly recognisable buckle and new take on the box bag.
Black belt bag, £505, BOYY.
Wandler’s new bag shape is a take on it’s own classic ‘Hortensia’ style. Wear this light blue bag with pastels, or white, for a classic spring palette. The croc-effect leather adds a glossy texture to any outfit.
Blue Bag, £490, Wandler.
This Mulberry diamond bag takes on a new shape, snake print, and beige colour blocking - 3 key spring summer trends. We expect to see this diamond shape worn with black jeans and a red knit jumper , or confidently with an all beige suit.
Tan diamond bag, £895, Mulberry.
This time of year calls for a reminder of the coming seasons and there is no better symbol of warm summer days than the shell. Taking over from the straw beach bag, Kayu’s shell bag transitions perfectly from Spring to Summer, day to night, and it’s neutral tone means it goes with everything.
White shell bag, £236, Kayu.
The half moon shape of this handmade bag lets it be oversized but also practical at the same time. The unusual shape along with the bold colour make this bag stand out. Pair with stripes, navy, and white for a striking look that transcends spring and summer.
Orange bag, £195, Catzorange.
This Mansur Gavriel takes on the new wave, quite literally. Every season the brand takes on new and innovative shapes - but we think this will become a fan favourite. Pair with a pair of snakeskin boots, and jeans for a laid-back look.
Brown bag, £565, Mansur Gavriel.
True to its name, Cult Gaia has become a cult classic. This bee-hive shape bag is set to take over from the instantly recognisable ‘Ark’ bag as a cult favourite this season. Pair with white sandals and a printed dress on brighter days.
White bee-hive bag, £350, Cult Gaia.
This See by Chloé bag reminds us that she’s just as chic as her sister brand, Chloé, by taking on a key colour trend of spring/summer - orange. With its relaxed shape, this bag goes perfectly with jeans and blazer, or a summer dress.
Orange bag, £345, See by Chloé.
Since 2015 Staud has been taking on classic shapes and looks and re-inventing them. This season they are making no exceptions with this white croc bag, which can be worn from day-to-day or as an evening bag. The interesting closure will definitely on it’s way to becoming a cool-girl classic.
