How to

Hot off the catwalk, you’d be forgiven for thinking Gucci’s opulent jacquard tote isn’t the obvious choice for a classic investment piece (however beautiful it may be.) But I'm out to prove you wrong, with not one but seven days worth of – dare I say – ‘easy’ ways to wear it. Simple it ain’t, but whoever said a combination of green, florals, stripes and gold hardwear doesn’t work with everything? (They were wrong.)

Like most (non-potty) people, all I want to wear on a Monday is jeans and a T-shirt. A Canadian tuxedo is the perfect way of tying in the denim, all the while looking like you have made an effort. But take note: the denim overload needs breaking up. Cue the statement bag. And blue and green should never be seen?

I’m a huge fan of a wide-leg-high-waist pant, but sometimes they’re a little grown-up for my liking. This is where Gucci is game-changing: its ladylike shape keeps things elegant, but the embroidery screams ‘exotic’. Plus, mixing green and pink is one of my favourite things to do.

If look-at-me bags leave you perplexed, play on what the bag has to offer by subtly matching your outfit to one of its elements. In this case, the colours of the Gucci ribbon.

Ok, there’s a lot going on here, but ultimately this look is all about the high/low mix. The bag and kitten heels say ‘lady’, so I threw in my favourite sweatshirt to stick a sartorial finger up at ‘refined elegance’.

If you are going to wear a near fluorescent yellow dress then why stop there? Add in a bright green floral bag and just bloody go for it.

This dress by my favourite new brand Borgo de Nor is the perfect example of my go to summer uniform. A basket would have made it too beachy, so Gucci strikes again (and wins for city). Extra bonuses for me here came in the form of the print clash and the fact that I never thought – until now – that I’d want to wear two different shades of green at once.

A silky pant on a Sunday is a must for me. If slinking around in said pants with your favourite bag du semaine also means clashing a horse print with florals then, in my view, you have NAILED Sunday dressing.
