THE SCRUNCHIE - once something we would never have considered considering, a scrunchie now feels like the chicest way to pull your hair back
THE OVERSIZED GOLD EARRINGS - gaudy now equals good. Wear them with scraped back hair and muted tones
THE STRAPPY SANDAL - The 90s shoe is back and best worn with minimal separates just as Gwyneth Paltrow would have
THE WIDE WAIST BELT - Will add interest to all the minimal tones we keep banging on about and a touch of retro glamour (especially when worn over a swimsuit)
THE FLIP-FLOPS - Think classic Haviana in simple tones and offset them with floaty dresses in a high/low manner
THE TINY SUNGLASSES - proceed with caution if you have a wide face or very rounded features but if you can pull them off we applaud you because they look AWESOME
Trends come and go, sure, but right now more than ever it feels like our wardrobes are full of retro pieces. Perhaps because those pieces are from the not-so-distant 80s and 90s and if we didnt sport them ourself in yester-year we certainly watched our mum wear them with pride. To adopt a retro piece and, more to the point, make it look modern is all about how you wear it. Try to make sure there is at least 10% of your look that's not vintage inspired so you don't end up looking like you're wearing fancy dress. Otherwise we urge you, buy a scrunchie.
